Here is a recipe for rustic biscotti, to be dunked in grappa just like “cantucci” biscuits are dunked in Vin Santo fortified wine. It is very easy to bake them, but you need a powerful mixer.
Here are the ingredients: 80 g butter at room temperature, 90 g olive oil, 150 g brown sugar, 2 small eggs, 1 packet of vanillin, 200 g wholemeal flour, 1 pinch baking powder, 1 pinch salt, 50 cc Grappa Tradizionale 50°, 100 g dried figs roughly chopped and left in Grappa Tradizionale 50° for a couple of days, 110 g unpeeled hazelnuts (roughly chopped), 260 g oats (roughly chopped).
Mix the ingredients and flatten the dough between two sheets of baking paper with a rolling pin. Shape the dough as you like and bake the biscuits in the oven at 160°C for about 15 minutes.
